Sunita Yogesh Studio is a full-service interior design firm based out of Chennai. We love her statement style which involves a lot of textures uniquely brought together to create a cozy and beautiful home.
1. In light of the current lockdown, how are you keeping yourself motivated?
It’s a difficult time for all of us and everything seems a bit uncertain at the moment. But it’s also a good time to introspect and now we all have the time at home to be doing the things we’ve been putting off due to lack of time. I’ve been keeping myself occupied with work as we do have a couple of projects lined up and we’ve been working on the design development from home. Other than that I’ve been enjoying taking some online classes on design and business as it’s always refreshing to update yourself and learn new things. And I’ve also got back to painting which was one of my favourite hobbies and which I’ve not been able to give much time to.
2. We know of your love of different textures. Can you share some ideas on how people can identify which look to go with when deciding on a space?
There is no hard and fast rule when it comes to the look one must go for as it completely depends on one’s personality and what they’re naturally drawn to. It also has a lot to do with how one would want to feel in their space. I personally love a lot of wood tones, woven textures, deep raw colours etc as that defines me and it genuinely makes me happy. So one needs to find out what they personally like and would want in their own homes. It can be something as simple as plants, pottery or art which makes one feel good in a space. So you can always build the space around that.
3. Your design gurus ? or some Instagram handles you love for inspiration ?
There are so many inspiring designers in the country. Ashiesh Shah, Ravi Vazirani, Fadd Studio, Muse lab, Quirk studio to name a few of my favourites. They all do some fabulous work and have a design language of their own which is fantastic.
